Our office is in the ground floor of the VUK building (Sopron, Baross st. 4-6.). The reception is open for students at the following times:

  • Monday: 09:00 - 11:00 (from 9 AM to 11 AM)
  • Tuesday: 09:00 - 11:00 (from 9 AM to 11 AM)
  • Wednesday: 10:00 - 12:00 (from 10 AM to noon)

Dormitory application procedure

  • Prospective new dormitory students can indicate their dormitory request by email to dormitory@uni-sopron.hu. For faster administration, please be sure to attach the acceptance letter from the university. The deadline for this application is the end of the second week of August. Students applying after the start of the academic year (after the first of September) may only be accepted if there are any vacant dormitory accommodations.
  • Students already living in a dormitory can apply for dormitory placement for the next academic year according to the instructions in the dormitory's admission information. This information will be provided at the end of every academic year for every dormitory student.

 

Fees and costs

  • For Erasmus and self-financing students: The dormitory fee is 750 euros per semester, plus a deposit of 150 euros.
  • For Stipendium Hungaricum students: The University provides accommodation in the dormitory free of charge, but the students must pay a deposit of HUF 20,000. In addition, students choosing to live in the dormitory cannot recieve any additional financial housing support from the University.
  • Payment method: Students must pay these fees through the Neptun system before moving into the dormitory. Payment of the fees is a condition for moving into the dormitory, in the case of unpaid fees, we cannot provide accommodation in the dormitory. Therefore, please ensure that all fees are paid prior to your arrival. More detailed information about the method of payment can be found on the university website: http://etk.uni-sopron.hu/hallgatoi-penzugyek. The deposit will be returned by bank transfer after the student has moved out, provided that the student's room has been found to be in order.

 

Moving in

Students accepted to the dormitory are requested to inform us about their expected arrival date in advance via the dormitory@uni-sopron.hu email address. Please bring your passports with you when moving in (for EU students, an identity card is also sufficient). The condition for moving in is the payment of all dormitory fees. If there is an unpaid dormitory fee, moving in is not possible. Another condition for moving in is signing the dormitory rental contract. For this reason, we ask students to report to the dormitory office on the day of their arrival or, if they arrive outside working hours, the day after their arrival.

Mooving out regulations - 2025

Dear Students,

Please note that the following date and time have been defined regarding the moving out from the dormitory at the end of the studying period: 

10.00 a.m. on 30th June 2025

The students who need dormitory accommodation after 30th June due to study or examination obligation, can notify us via e-mail to dormitory@uni-sopron.hu .

For the students who would like to stay at the dormitory continuously after the end of the academic year, we provide a possibility to move to their summer places earlier, depending on the places getting vacated. So that the rooms in the dormitory buildings should be vacated gradually, and the general cleaning can be started as soon as possible. We specifically ask for the cooperation of the students in this regard.

The procedure of moving out changes from this year: 

The Moving-out request form must be downloaded from the website of the dormitory, and it must be printed.

  • The dormitory room must be handed over according to the inventory to an official authorised by the Dormitory Management (building caretaker, dormitory maintenance worker or dormitory assistant) and the student must have the form signed.

The rooms can be handed over in the VUK building between 8.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m. on weekdays!

THE MOVING-OUT ADMINISTRATION CANNOT BE DONE AFTER 3.00 P.M. ON WEEKDAYS OR AT WEEKENDS!

Your suitcases/bags may be placed temporarily until 8.00 p.m. on the day of your moving out in the former café room in the hall of the VUK building. You may ask for help with this at the reception desk. We do not accept any responsibility for your belongings placed here, so please do not leave valuables there!

  • When leaving the building, students must hand in the key of the room and the entrance card at the reception desk, and they must have the form signed.
  • The officials in the Dormitory office check if the fees related to the dormitory have been paid, and they sign the form.

Then, we can do the moving-out administration in the Neptun system.

 

 

  • If the student does not complete the process of moving out as described here, he/she will receive a point deduction in the dormitory admission process for the next academic year!

    Please take care to observe the following:
    - The handover of the room is completed if the student has accounted for the items taken over and the furnishings, has cleaned the room and the refrigerator, has arranged the furniture back to its original layout, has signed the ‘room inventory’ with date on the day of the handover, and all the three signatures from the dormitory are there on his/her Moving-out request form.
  • The tools needed for cleaning can be picked up at the reception desks. If any damage has been caused in the room, its value will be deducted from the deposit that will be refunded after moving out. If the room has not been cleaned properly, a cleaning fee of HUF 10000 will be deducted from each resident’s deposit. The cleaning must include the cleaning of refrigerators and microwave ovens, as well as removing the labels and stickers from the doors.
    - Please hand in the tools and equipment taken over for personal use at the reception desk before moving out. Please place pillows and duvets on the beds, and hand in the bed linen at the reception desk!
    - Due to lack of space, we cannot store personal equipment and furnishings during the summer. If you would like to carry on renting a place in the garage and the closed bicycle storage space for the summer, please notify us by e-mail to dormitory@uni-sopron.hu . We do not accept any responsibility for bicycles or other objects left behind in the dormitory buildings and the backyard. 

    The deposit of the students who have moved out will be transferred back to their joint account in Neptun. They can use it again from there, or they can ask for its refund.
