International Students of University of Sopron Spent a Day Exploring Local Heritage

On 23 May, the Alexander Lamfalussy Faculty of Economics organized a one-day cultural excursion for international students from all four faculties of the university to offer insight into the rich cultural heritage of the region.

The first stop of the day was the Eszterházy Castle in Fertőd, where the students took a guided tour of the impressive baroque building's halls, and then admired the castle's charming rose garden. One of the things that caught the students' attention during the tour was that Pál Eszterházy had no fewer than 26 children.

They had lunch at the nearby Grácia Restaurant, where they enjoyed traditional Hungarian cuisine in a friendly atmosphere.

The afternoon programme was held in Fertőhomok, where an interactive programme on Croatian national culture organised by the Croatian Cultural Association was held in the local Tájház. During the tour, the students were introduced to the traditions of the Croatian community, showed their skills in games - the winner of which was awarded the title of “Pentecost King” - learned how to bake sweet braided bread and, thanks to the 24-year-old Kajkavci tambura band, took an active part in local traditions through a music and dance performance.
